VENTRICULAR TACHYCARDIA AS A FIRST PRESENTATION OF ARRHYTHMOGENIC RIGHT VENTRICULAR CARDIOMYOPATHY (ARVC) IN A PREVIOUSLY ASYMPTOMATIC SEXAGENARIAN

چکیده

Arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia/cardiomyopathy (ARVD/C) is characterised by morphological and histological changes in the ventricles. Progressive myocyte loss fibrofatty tissue replacement, producing islands of scar, can lead to reentrant tachycardia sudden cardiac death. It usually presents as chest pain, palpitations, heart failure, or syncope. The majority cases are seen before age 40. Ventricular arrhythmia a first presentation elderly infrequently. We present case previously asymptomatic 62-year-old gentleman who had an episode manifestation ARVC without having any positive family history for this disease. He was managed with amiodarone later planned implantable defibrillator (ICD).

Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC/D): A Systematic Literature Review

Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy/dysplasia (ARVC/D) is a genetic form of cardiomyopathy (CM) usually transmitted with an autosomal dominant pattern. It primary affects the right ventricle (RV), but may involve the left ventricle (LV) and culminate in biventricular heart failure (HF), life threatening ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death (SCD). It accounts for 11%-22% ...

Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC): cardiovascular magnetic resonance update

Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC) is one of the most arrhythmogenic forms of inherited cardiomyopathy and a frequent cause of sudden death in the young. Affected individuals typically present between the second and fourth decade of life with arrhythmias coming from the right ventricle. Pathogenic mutations in genes encoding the cardiac desmosome can be found in approximatel...

Bradyarrhythmias: First Presentation of Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy?

Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) is a disorder characterized by progressive replacement of myocardial cells by fibro-fatty tissue giving rise to ventricular tachyarrhythmias. In this case report, we describe a pediatric patient with sinoatrial arrests and second degree atrioventricular conduction block several years before ARVC became apparent. These findings suggest that ...

Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy

Arrythmogenic right ventricular (RV) cardiomyopathy (ARVC) is a cardiomyopathy characterized pathologically by fibrofatty replacement primarily of the RV and clinically by life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias in apparently healthy young people. The prevalence of the disease has been estimated at 1 in 5,000 individuals, although this estimate will likely increase as awareness of the conditio...

Late presentation of arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy: a case report

INTRODUCTION Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy is an inherited myocardial disease affecting predominantly young people and manifests as sustained ventricular tachycardia with left bundle branch block morphology, sudden death or isolated right or biventricular heart failure. However, its first manifestation as sustained ventricular tachycardia in older patients without preceding sy...
